The development that threatened our creek and our properties was halted not because of legal actions or because of our protestations, but by the simple math of the downturn in the economy. Chimes Creek, in the meantime, continues to flow, and with it the natural process of trees growing and falling. We got together one recent weekend day to help out an elderly neighbor clear the debris out of the creek. It’s been several years, perhaps four, since I walked the creek with Mark to document its status. Maybe this year, in March or so, when it’s a bit warmer and after the rains are well behind us – we’ll take a wade to check on its health.
